ergomania: An obsessive zeal for or a compulsion to be constantly at work.

The correct term for over-working instead of the commonly misused "workaholic" which is etymologically incorrect.

Skeleton represents final work activity.

This image represents an ergomaniac who worked right up to the point of his last entry and so signifies his efforts to complete his last project even to the very end of his existence! It may also be said that he represents the ultimate in persistence (or stupidity).

Productive work is the central purpose of a
rational man's life, the central value that integrates
and determines the hierarchy of all his other values.
Reason is the source, the precondition
of his productive work—pride is the result.

-Ayn Rand

ergophobia: A fear of work related to anxieties about perfectionism, and anxiety about possible failure in one's efforts to perform a task properly; and the fear of failure as well as anxiety about there being too much exertion and effort in a job.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
—and Jill a wealthy widow.

-Evan Esar

As a remedy against all ills—
poverty, sickness, and melancholy—
only one thing is absolutely necessary:
a liking for work.

-Charles Baudelaire
