hydrodipsomania: An epileptic condition characterized by attacks of insatiable or uncontrollable thirst.
hydromania: 1. An excessive craving for water or liquids; an uncontrollable fascination with water. 2. An impulse to commit suicide by drowning.
hydrophobia: What is thought to be a fear of water, especially by those who have rabies; the inability to drink (swallow liquids) because of throat constrictions, not a fear of water itself.
This condition results in a symptom of intense excitement with terror and extreme thirst; but every effort to drink is immediately followed by choking and dyspnea (breathing difficulties) with an elevation of temperature and pulse.
In biology, intolerant of water or wet conditions; water-repellent.
hydrophobophobia: An intense fear of having rabies or with symptoms similar to the disease, sometimes resulting in hysterical conditions resembling the better known term of hydrophobia.
hyelophobia: An irrational terror of glass.
hygrophobia: 1. A fear or strong dislike of liquids in any form, especially wine and water; also an aversion to dampness or moisture. 2. In biology, intolerant of moist conditions.
hylephobia: An irrational fear of epilepsy.
Some people fear having epilepsy themselves while others fear seeing a person having an epileptic attack. The epileptic may have a strong anxiety about the social embarrassment of having an attack in the presence of others.
hylomania: 1. An excessive tendency towards materialism. 2. A fascination with forests.
The Greek element hylo- has a variety of meanings including "wood, forest" or "matter, materialism".

hylophobia: 1. An excessive fear or hatred of forests, woods, or of materialism (matter). Sometimes this form is also written as, ylophobia. 2. A term for the fear of epilepsy in oneself or in others. After a seizure, an epileptic may become phobic about going to the same place where the seizure occurred.
hypengiaphobia, hypengyophobia: An abnormal fear of being in a position of responsibility.
Some individuals who have such depressive disorders fear responsibility because they have a sense of inadequacy.
hypermania: A severe mania in which there is a partial or complete disorientation that is often accompanied by violent behavior. An intense mania with overwhelming tensions and marked disorientation.
hyperpolysyllabicomania: An excessive fondness for or desire to use big words.
Example: "It is impossible to indoctrinate a superannuated canine in the intricacies of innovative feats of legerdemain."

hypnophobia: An excessive fear of being, or falling, asleep, or of being hypnotized.
hypnosis: See mesmeromania.
hypolepsiomania: A general term that denotes the various forms of monomania; or, a fixation on a single subject.
hypomania: A minor form of mania characterized by elation and a feeling of well being together with the speed of thought.
An abnormality of mood resembling mania (persistent elevated or an expansive mood, hyperactivity, inflated self-esteem, etc.), but of a lesser intensity. Mood disturbances that are not severe enough to cause marked impairment in social or work activities or to require hospital care.
hypophobia: A lack of normal fear; not being afraid enough.
hypselotimophobia: An anxiety or extreme fear or hatred of high prices. From Greek hypselos "high", and timos "price".
hypsiphobia, hypsophobia: An abnormal fear of high places.
The heightsphobic person is no more or less anxious than anyone else until exposed to heights, but then he or she becomes overwhelmingly uncomfortable and fearful experiencing symptoms associated with a panic attack; such as, palpitations, sweating, dizziness, and difficulty in breathing.
hysteromania: An old name for nymphomania or hysterical insanity.
