iatrophobia: An abnormal fear of going to a doctor (physician) or to places where patients are treated; such as, hospitals.
Some people who fear undressing in front of others may fear doctors because they are often required to disrobe and cover themselves only with a sheet during a physical exam. Some become so anxious just by being in the doctor's office that their blood pressure increases, a phenomenon known as "white coat" hypertension.
These phobics may fear doctors because they associate them with illness or injury and with authority figures or they are afraid of getting germs or a disease from others in the waiting room.
ichthyomania: An excessive fascination with fish which includes collecting them in aquaria and having many related objects representing fish.

This fear may include looking at fish, imagining or seeing pictures of them, or of eating them.
iconomania: 1. An excessive devotion to or a morbid impulse for collecting images (icons or portraits). 2. An infatuation with icons, whether as objects of devotion or as works of art.
iconophobia, ikonophobia: A hatred or dread of images (statues, drawings, paintings, etc).
ideophobia, ideaphobia: An excessive fear of ideas.
idolomania: 1. Zealous idolatry. 2. An abnormal interest in or infatuated devotion to idols.
idolophobia: An extreme hatred of idols which may result in the destruction of such images.

Islamophobia: A strong fear or hatred of Muslims; used especially by Russians who consider Islam to be the ideology of terrorism, religious extremism, and fanaticism.
- Russian Islamophobia has taken on many forms, from violence, like the skinhead rampage in a crowded Moscow market last year allegedly aimed at "persons of Muslim nationality,"to newspapers that run pictures of local Muslim leaders next to photographs of Osama bin Laden, the terrorist leader.
- Human rights groups have reported a surge in hate crimes throughout Russia, some related to ethnicity, others connected more directly with the presumed Islamic heritage of the victim.
- "They [Russians] say, 'You Muslims kill people.' They equate all Muslims with terrorists."
- Such "Islamophobia,"as it has become known in Russia, has divided and overwhelmed what by the numbers should be the counry's most influential minority (estimated to be twenty million followers of Islam).
